Bethesda Softworks have been creating some of the best video games out there since the late 1980s. Their most recent offering, 2015’s Fallout 4 shows that they’re still one of the best game developers out there. A contender for the Game of the Year award, and highly rated by almost all gaming publications, it’s a seriously great game that everyone should play.
The dystopian, post-apocalyptic world of the Fallout series has kept millions of gamers entertained for years, and set the bar pretty high for other games like it. So if you’re a fan of Fallout 4, but you’re looking for something similar, check out these three great games.
1.Rage
If you were completely in love with Fallout 4’s post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, you’ll love Rage! The 2011 first person shooter from id Software (the guys behind Doom and Quake) takes you into a dystopian world of big guns, fast cars and insane mutants. Like Fallout, it’s not just a violent fps; behind the gallons of mutant blood is a deep story about bringing humanity back from the brink of destruction. If you liked Fallout 4 but wished it was a little more like Mad Max with some big armoured cars, Rage is the game for you. Aside from all the running and gunning, there’s a great little driving element included that keeps the fun going for hours.
If you loved Fallout 4’s role-playing elements and futuristic storyline, but want to play a game that isn’t in an essentially empty post-nuclear world, the Mass Effect series is your kind of thing. In a future of space travel, alien encounters and laser gun battles you take on the role of a character created entirely by you, creating your own story on your way to save the galaxy. Just like Fallout 4, you choose your own adventure, meet bizarre and intriguing characters and get into some seriously exciting battles along the way. With the newest Mass Effect game ‘Andromeda’ being released just last month, now is the perfect time to pick up the series.
Skyrim is the perfect game for the Fallout 4 lover who wished they could play as a legendary Viking-like dragon-slayer, rather than dealing with wayward robots and gangs of raiders. Developed by the studio behind Fallout, in Skyrim, you’re thrown into a Scandinavian-inspired world of magic and civil war, with a deep in-game lore and the best customization and role-playing elements in gaming today. Even better, Bethesda Softworks have recently released a remastered version of Skyrim for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC with updated graphics and gameplay features, making the experience so much better.
If you loved Fallout 4, but you’ve finally run out of things to do in the nuclear wasteland of the Commonwealth, you’ll want something new to do. So you should definitely check out these games like Fallout, to keep the fun coming (until the next Fallout game).
