Here’s how to install restricted extras in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ‘Prescise Pangolin’:

1. Issue the following command at the terminal –

sudo apt-get update

2. Now, issue the following command at the terminal –

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

    after i type sudo apt-get update into the terminal, it wants my
    password and there’s no way i can figure to type it in – help

      Ed – use the password which you use to login or the one that was entered during Ubuntu installation process.
