Browse Local Computer Files Through FireFox

This is a simple tip but works wonder for those who don’t want to go to Computer > drive name every time in order to see and access files and folders.

Most web browsers have the capacity to look for files and folders through the address tab (it is not just reserved for only typing website names).

Suppose, to access D: drive of a local computer directly from a web browser, just type D: in the site address field of Firefox (in this example).

Notice how this process was converted to file:///d:/. This is basically how the web browser understands that this was not a http:// request but a file request.

The same thing can be done by using Internet Explorer but the only difference would be that a new window will open listing the files which is the same as doing that by Computer > drive name.

Hope this was a short but useful tip. 🙂

Cheers.
